What's difficult about pregnancy and a foal? I'm asking because I bought a 9 mth old weanling yesterday riding pony cross welsh and gorgeous. I've got a 9 week old baby and a 3 year old. He's supposed to have been well handled but the closest I've got to him is 2metres since he was released in the paddock. He's quite timid. It probably wasn't the right thing to do but I'm already in love with him. My Tb loves him but my shetty can't stand him. The shetty is so mean I've had to lock him up. I think I'm going to enjoy the challenge of him although in the back of my mind I'm thinking shxx what if he gets injured and I can't catch him to treat him. I'm planning to spend a bit of time with him each day.

Hi all,
I thought it is about time i introduce our newest arrival. Matthew William Hopgood born 7th August, 10 days overcooked Rolls Eyes weighing 10.5 pound.
After an incredibly difficult delivery resulting in one very unwell new mum and a 3rd degree perinial tear, I am now on the mend and am much more able to enjoy motherhood. I would be very interested to know if anyone else on the forum has had a similar experience and how they found recovery etc. Will try to upload a couple of photos when my laptop decides to co operate with re sizing them Mad
Very Happy

I thought my baby was big at 9lb 3oz but yours is huge. I had 2nd degree tears with both my births. I took the pain medication voltaren and panadeine every 6 hours and never had any pain issues and healed up fine. The second birth was a bit more complicated my cervix was hanging outside and my placenta broke when the doctor was removing it. I had to stay in hospital for 3 days as I was on two types of antibiotics due to the placenta. It all sounds horrible but iit wasn't really I had an epidural with both births and the pain medication controlled things afterwards. 8 weeks on from baby number 2 I feel completely back to normal.

He certainly is a big boy Laughing in hospital he was constantly being compared to other womens 2-3 month olds in size Shocked

I've just finished the antibiotics i was on, still fairly reliant on 6 hourly pain killers but slowly getting better. Apparently bub did a fair amount of damage & doctors wont allow me to try natural delivery again in the (very) distant future Sad

Your second experience does sound awful!

It sound's like a good idea to have a ceasar for future pregnancies usually 2nd babies are bigger. I'd hate to think how big your next baby will be. I'm so glad I've finished having babies!

Hi everyone, thought I might give everyone an update! Life is just wonderful at the moment! My little man is 7 weeks old,and thanks to a book called Babywise his sleep/feeding routine is pretty much sorted, he is sleeping through the night, though Mum still wakes (my body clock needs adjusting Laughing ).
I had a riding lesson 2 weeks ago, and had another one today - my horse is such a good boy, other than fitness and strength he has picked up right where we left off!!!
My Other Half is wonderful - supporting me to be getting out, having a ride and reminding me that everything else doesn't stop because there is a baby - though it's nice to sit and watch baby and do not much else!!
Hope everyone expecting is well, welcome to the new arrivals, and I hope all the babies are growing like mushrooms!!
Cheers Everyone!

Smile I haven't posted in here since I was at week 24--- now I am almost 39 weeks! Eeek.Baby could come any day now, and I say bring it on little one, I just want the nausea/throwing up etc to end once and for all Crying or Very Sad (though, having a baby in my belly has been awesome, all the movements and lumps and bumps poking out, hehe!)

Congrats to all the new arrivals, how exciting!! Good to read about all the tips and tricks that are working too.I'm a first timer so need all the advice I can get!

How did labour start for everyone?? For the last week or so I've been having lots of constant "pulling" pains... I know its probably nothing significant at this stage, but hoping that it's at least the beginning !

Woohoo!!

Some mild, irregular contractions started at 11pm on the saturday night. Went to the hospital at 4am and after 6 hours of pushing with no progress 3 failed vac attempts and baby becoming seriously distressed, my 10lb 5oz baby boy was born at 12:12pm after use of forceps Sad
surgery to repair 3rd degree tear, 5 units of blood and 6 weeks later i feel fantastic! But looking back, the end result was worth all that and so much more Very Happy

Anyone due to have their bubs in the near future? Smile

Good evening ladies, I have just hit the 13 week mark
keeping it a secret is so hard, but hubby and I thought we
would start telling family and friends when we got the all
clear. So now the count down begins. I am scared $hit
less. I don't mind being pregnant, just scared of the birthing
part of things. Every thing so far is going to planned, no morning
sickness and have more energy than usual. Can any one explain
the procedure of a natural birth. Pain relief and what I'm gonna expect.
Also what do I need to buy my child, what sizes and how many
of each item. Sorry for all the questions I have never done this before.

the procedure of a natural birth. Pain relief and what I'm gonna expect.
Also what do I need to buy my child, what sizes and how many
of each item. Sorry for all the questions I have never done this before.

Dont be scared Smile I know its easy to say that.. its the most.. amazing thing ever!!
Talk to other mums, read up about positive birth stories - once your further along, talk with your OB, GP and midwives..

Look into the drugs you can take.. and the effects on baby.. and work out a heirachy..
ie: natural (nothing) .. then maybe gas.. then maybe something else etc as you go along on a scale of pain (which you wont know until your actually IN labour)

If you go naturally.. (no induction etc) .. all going well.. youw ill be past 37 weeks.. you will have a bit of backache, waters may break, or you will start getting regular contractions etc.. they are bearable at first, and your body releases endorphins and hormones to help you cope. All hospitals will be different about when you head in..
*** If you attend your antenatal classes, which i highly recommend, then the midwives etc will run over the stages of labour, signs, when to come in, drugs etc ***

Expect pressure (and pain) .. yup its going to hurt, but its a completely different pain from anything else you would have experienced.. and your going to have to PUSH like you have never pushed before haha.. some women LOVE it.. others are okay with it, others hate it.. you honestly wont know until your in there Smile

When are you due will depend on what you need Smile
And also what climate your in

Kids clothes

singlets
bonds wondersuits ( a godsend)
Anything pumpkin patch Rolls Eyes
socks (dont bother with booties.. they fall off)
bunny rugs
facewashers (to catch the spews)
bassinette
car seat
sling/pram
baby bath
baby temperature recorder (go a forehead one)
Nappies - disposable or cloth, depending on how you go
breastfeeding/bottle fed etc

Also keep in mind if you have a baby shower, a lot of ppl will bring gifts.

Dont go overboard.. once your further on, you will get an idea of what size bubs its going to be - 0000 is the general newborn size.. but you honestly dont need heaps

Also depends on money - op shops, second hand baby groups on facebook, other mums on here etc.. babies dont spend a long time wearing clothes, and there are HEAPS of great quality second hand stuff out there that you dont need to spend a fortune on.

and always feel free to PM me if you want to chat/ask questions.
I do recommend the Essential Baby forums to get a bit of an idea - but *warning* on the bitchy mothers Razz

Just a quick check-in; I had my baby Xavier on 15th September, he came spot on his due date but only after a 40 hour (mostly excruciating!)labour. I eventually gave in trying to be brave and had the epidural--heaven-- and at 4.30pm had my beautiful slimy purple son plopped on my chest!!What a moment. Though I did score 8 stitches out of it all.....
We had 2 nights in at Frances Perry, and because all was going well we were transfered over to the Grand Hyatt for 2 nights which was a great transition to heading home. All has been going brilliantly, we're getting lots of rest and he is feeding and sleeping well-- we really can't complain, he's been (SO FAR) an angel Very Happy

Stats are; 7lb 4oz and was 52.5cm long. He's 2 weeks old now and has already grown another 2 cm and put on 260gms. Not sure where he gets his height from, he's long and skinny!!!

Oh and YES the throwing up did stop, first time in 8 months, but of course my body did have to have a good chuck in labour for old time's sake. A lot of things I still dont like the taste of, but no more throwing up, so I'm happy with that!!!!

Absolutely LOVING this new life with baby Xave!

He has been smiling since 3 weeks old and has just got the hang of giggling. His funny little pig squeal attempts at laughing get us in absolute hysterics!

I feel so lucky to have such a good baby. He sleeps 8-10 hours through the night so I am one very happy first time mummy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy
