Don't know in Australia, but in the Netherlands (and elsewehere in Europe mainland) for the POR:
T1 up tp 20km
T2 up tp 30km
T3 up to 40km
T4 and higher up to 50km

The PTV is variable, no rules there but usually no more than 2,5km

What sort of stock saddle? As I have a wintec, which because it has the double points for the girth I don't need a surcingle.
If you don't have one with double points a surcingle is kind of like another girth, but it goes over the top of the seat and through the two little holes on each side of the seat and buckles up.
Most saddleries should have one in stock or be able to get one in for you.
Really you should always have one, as if you girth point breaks there is nothing to save you, whereas with a surcingle on it gives you a backup. Kind of like having double points.

Thanks for that ladies.
I did a little research and now know what it is...
My Saddle is a Donald Cross (exceptionally good) but with only one girth point.
I see now I need to put another onthat goes over the saddle.

It isn't optional BZ - it is a 'must have' although my saddle is very secure in it's points. Anyway - want to compete so no choice..

Surcingle it is.

I hope Chase is coming too - I am so excited... never done one of these and really looking forward to it.

Cheers.

I think I am coming. It will all depend on the whereabouts of G. If she is at the breakers, maybe not. Otherwise I bring BZ and we try out the OH's new 4WD (not really new, but new to us!). Very Happy

Wow, from the looks of this thread it seems there's going to be a fair few of us and a fair few newbies too like me!

I'm really, really excited....riding almost every day now to get my mare fit and doing heaps of trail rides and she's really been doing me proud the last couple of weeks so can't wait to get there and have fun and meet everyone else!

Is everyone camping at the equestrian centre? Should be a good atmosphere if there's a few of us there!

Less than 5 weeks to go! Very Happy Laughing Very Happy Laughing

I'll be there camping both Friday and Saturday night! Very Happy

Plan to arrive by 3pm on the Friday, get horsey settled and tent pitched early so can kick back and relax with a nice cold beer in preparation for the weekend's riding!

Can't wait to get there and meet everyone, will be a nice atmosphere if there's a fair few of us there!

Only two and a half weeks to go......

ok, this might seem like a silly question but here goes anyway......what should I wear for this Le Trec thing??? Embarassed

I'm a member of an adult riders but haven't got any club uniform as yet and seeing as it's an unofficial competition is it necessary to wear your club's colours?

And if not wearing your club's colours then what is suitable to wear???

Oh and someone please tell me I don't have to dress my fat arse in beige jodhpurs!!! Laughing

Hoping someone from last year might be able to give me some pointers here! Very Happy

ETA Just re-read the info pack sent to us and it tells us we should wear suitable country attire....have escaped the beige jodhpurs this time!! Laughing Laughing

HUGE Thank you to the organizers. It was a well run relaxed fun weekend which we enjoyed greatly.

It was wonderful to meet great people from all over and everyone was friendly.

It was our first Le TREC but my little girl was a gem (well mostly) and we came a way quite successful.

congratulations again kim - you deserved your success - maya was a little gem both days and you rode her well!

thanks for being my partner too - meant i got a first prize for the p.o.r. phase - and it was my first ever competition so really nice to come away with a ribbon with 1st on it!!! Very Happy

just so everyone knows - my horse isn't usually so full of herself - she's normally a real quiet girl and a real trusty trail horse - think she got overwhelmed with the whole competition thing - i've never seen her behave quite like that before so it was interesting, and it was my first fall off her too so it was a weekend of firsts! just glad i got straight back on and tackled a couple more jumps and obstacles while the adrenalin was still pumping! Laughing

thanks to barbara and the other organisers - thoroughly enjoyed the weekend and what a great bunch of people too which made it as enjoyable as it was!

Hi all - I think it will be in Octoberish. We think the late November date was getting a little bit to far towards the hot weather. We were lucky, but I think we will avoid it in future. Smile We will let you all know when a date has been set. Smile
