Was this the one on ABC last night?
I watched it and thought that the ABC had done a very good job.

Not a dry eye in the house. Crying or Very Sad

I think it was called 'firestorm'

I thought it was put together really well. I particularly liked the aerial/cgi images of where the fire was spreading. But I was surprised they didn't show us at Steels Creek. The fire basically surrounded Yarra Glen and that's a pretty well-known place. I would have liked to see how it took us out. One of the Kinglake residents said the fire came up the hill and I'm not sure if they ment up from us (we're the foot hills), although I think it came from just about everywhere. However we weren't completely forgotten - there was a special earlier in the day on Hargraves Brewery, which as a local, we're very happy that they have continued business Very Happy

Step away from the computer,
I didnt get to do much yesterday as the 7th of Feb is my brothers birthday, so I missed it.... But those who suffered were not far from my thoughts....

However, knowing the ABC, I would guess they will release it on a DVD at some stage...

Very brave people telling their stories Crying or Very Sad

i found it very informative and filled in alot of the gaps about timings of what happened when and in what order.

Moving and very salient

I watched it and think anyone living in bushfire prone areas should.
There is much to be learnt from others experiences.
I could not believe the very old man who not only survived Black Fridays fires in 1939 but also 2009 Black Saturday.
I dont think the CFA would be a huge fan of it though.
It did make you realise on those days do not rely on their reports or updates.
Most emergency warnings went up as the affected towns were already on fire. Sad
I kept thinking of MandyEs husband in Strathewen who somehow managed to not only survive but save their house and horses.

yeh it was a little bit disapointing that steels creek was left out again and there was bits in there that wernt really told the way they actually happened which i really feel for the people involved as they really should get recignition for what they did

but besides that it was a real interesting watch and a tear jurker

i get that they didn't mention you guys, but i think there were lots of places they didn't mention.
we watched it and we too would buy it on DVD. we thought that old fellow was great, what a go'er. those people who lost family, yet still told their stories did so well, i couldn't imagine how hard that must have been Crying or Very Sad

It is able to be downloaded (I've just done it) off the abc website...

Select "Download the documentary" from the left hand menu.
