The Dresden Files are a rip roaring crime/supernatural series.
The book series that the tv show Wire in the blood' was based upon by Val Mcdermid. The Rebus series by Ian Rankin.
I have never read a series of true crimes and biographies though. Generally real life doesn't go by a script.

If you like good auto-biography's the Sara Henderson series are really pretty good.The follow life on the family farm in the outback,her life with her tyrant entreprener husband(i think thats the right spelling??)and life after his death holding her family and the station together and the fall out and family dispute with her daughters one taking her to court.Really good reads and quite good on the humour side of things too!Goes from life's funny experiences to near death to every day family life(or what they call every day in the outback)!Loads about the family pets and station animals too!
The titles are;
FROM STRENGTH TO STRENGTH
THE STRENGTH IN US ALL
THE STRENGTH OF OUR DREAMS
SOME OF MY FRIENDS HAVE TAILS
OUTBACK WISDOM-about to start that now!
A YEAR AT BULLO
Then 2 of her daughters wrote a book each telling the way they saw growing up through it all and the resulting court case with Bonnie.
BULLO BY MARLEE RANACHER and
HER FATHERS DAUGHTER-THE BONNIE HENDERSON STORY-I really want to read this one.
