No draw here yet either .... and Im guessing the ground would be fine at the moment but forecast is a bit miserable for later in the week but like you can take any notice of that anyway ... 15 degrees and Sunny was the prediction for Colac yesterday and it basically pissed with rain all day! Rode there yesterday (not competing this HT's) Surface is not bad, but a few slippery spots. Higher levels would definately need studs. and no tight turns on course! Certainly not dangerous if you are aware! Have fun everyone. Very Happy

My entry got there on time, but they were already full. I too am on a waiting list and I'm gutted. I so want to have a go so I will just have to keep my fingers crossed and hope for the best.

PS anyone in Level 4 who can't make it can you let the organisers know ASAP please Very Happy

I think you should be prepared for it being pretty wet underfoot. There was heavy rain on Thursday night and it has pretty much rained all day in Melton today. Lots of water laying around, hopefully the course will hold up OK but it's still raining now.

Apparently the course is rideable, but it will be slippery. As previous poster said, just be aware of the conditions, no tight turns and it would probably be best not to hammer around the course!

But I guess that we'll see when we get there!

Hopefully if it's wet under foot or slippery which I am assuming it will be then they might increase the XC course time allowed just a little.

I'm also hopeful that any showers will be brief and not too heavy, I'm sick to death of getting wet at comps this year!

What a brilliant day!

Hope the rider who fell off is ok Confused

My boy got a little bit strong towards the end, and I had to leave before the end, but fingers crossed I made the time ok.

Big thank-you to the organisers, and other than the dressage arenas which were AWFUL slippy it was all pretty darn lovely x

Photos of Levels 1,2 & 3 cross country are now up......levels 4 & 5 will be up tomorrow.

I only did cross country, there was another photographer there who did the dressage......

As above post by shooter, Angie Rickard Photography and also Anita Collins Equine Photography.

I just wanted to say a massive thanks to the OC and ground crew volunteers yesterday. I am the dumbass that got bogged not once but twice Embarassed and both times I was pulled out fairly quickly and without question, as were the many others without 4x4's, they were kept busy all day! I was supposed to be first on in the dressage but with the bogging drama on the drive in the OC were very accommodating and pushed my dressage time back half an hour so I wasn't so stressed/upset.

The dressage arenas were a little slippery but that can't be helped and was the same for everyone and the XC time was very generous to allow a safe ride in the conditions.

So thanks again and I ended up having a great day Very Happy

From having a read through this thread, I don't think that there are any 'Friends of Melton' on vic horse. I have e-mailed one of the organisers and asked if/where the results are, that was Wednesday and still no reply.

Fingers crossed for some info soon, but maybe have a go at contacting them directly?

Me too Diff's Mum. I won a section last year and was told a trophy would be in the mail, and never received anything either. All of the events with rugs up for grabs etc, I was pretty excited when we won - and then I was presented with a ribbon Confused But I had fun so it didn't matter that much. But I do always envy those out there with rugs form winning other horse trials.

I've just discovered I came third in my section! I'm over the moon, it was our first official horse trials and we only got graded a few weeks ago.

You would have been relegated to 7th, most likely because the other rider was closer to the optimum time on cross country.
