Had a great day today with the PRE Mundial revision. It was so interesting! Great to see the score sheets and all the measurements. Darnela was a perfect square - 152cm high, and 152cm long Very Happy . The horses were measured for height, length, chest width, body width (can't remember what it's called, but a tape was put around the body (where the saddle and girth would go)), cannon bone width, knee width... I've probably left something out. Really interesting! Alberto from Spain was lovely Smile

Welcome Colleen, good to see you in here. How is my little girl (oops....not mine any more, already sold to another great forumite!) and my gorgeous lady?

Make sure you put up lots of pics of your other gorgeous boys. Very Happy

Kiki, come and try out our Southern Stars Saddles while you are at Equitana. I can endeavour to fit it to your boy like a glove. Depending on how big you are our new pony dressage saddle may be perfect. Manolo Mendez rode in it recently and absolutely loved it!

Great day for your revision BSH! Glad all went well. I was at Werribee all day for TTT dressage and got drowned!

We had several horses assessed by Col. Alberto Zapatero over the last few days. The judging was done in accordance with the standards used by the Spanish College of Judges (the system that was used officially for all PRE shows prior to 2006). With the following results:

Aquila Merlin: 70 - Premium colt - despite playing up a little (or a lot... he was a right snot! Shocked)

Aquila Leonidas: 72 - Premium colt

Aquila Sophia: 77 - Elite filly with a fantastic score of 9 for her trot. The judge said "you should never, never sell this horse - there are very few like her".

Aquila Rosalinda: 83 Elite mare - an amazing score!!! I don't know what comments he had on her, as she is being started at the moment in Yass.

I'm so proud of all these horses, and so pleased with the results. It's nice to know how the horses that I am breeding compare with those in other parts of the world - especially when they compare very well!

I'm looking forward to the next show and will enter more horses. We had to scratch Salome, unfortunately, as she developed an abcess just prior to the event.

Poseido and Merlin didn't score very well... I pulled Poseido out of the paddock (where he is happy to prance around), and knew that he was the size of a whale. I didn't expect him to not want to trot or canter at Winchelsea... the judge apologised and said that "he can't mark what he can't see". I'll put him in training next time! Maybe I should have had a bucket of oats in the corner - he would have pranced in that direction... Rolls Eyes Laughing

Merlin didn't want to trot or canter either - he did both very grudgingly and with no animation. Both very different from the last time they were there. Sad I wonder if they might have been distracted by stallions serving a few meters away?

Bloody horses! Very Happy

Yes - hopefully we will be able to do this annually! Surprised

I have a photo of Sophia on this hard drive... I'll have to sort through the others. We didn't quite have the settings on the new camera right in the arena, so not all were successful shots.

Squeeeee! Surprised

I've just found out how we did in the EquiPRE show.

Reserve Champion Stallion: Poseido LXXII
Reserve Champion Mare: Aquila Rosalinda
Junior Champion Filly: Aquila Sophia & Ariadna V (equal 1st place)
Junior Champion Colt: Aquila Leonidas

Best Movement - Junior: Aquila Sophia (8.5 pts, also overall highest movement)

Plus... we own the full sister to the Champion Mare (Mayica La Nobleza, in foal to Poseido!).

I love it when a (breeding) plan comes together!!!

Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Great photos Mellizo and RubyH! Your boys look fantastic.

We had a brown colt born last night Very Happy . He's by Hispano XVIII and out of Anchorbar Forcilla - he looks quite similar to Valiente (who has now been sold to a wonderful home). I can't see any grey hairs on him at present, but I'm sure they'll be there somewhere and he'll grey out.

Pics BSH!!!

Ruby, Thunder looks great, he has lovely dapples!!

Found a saddle, yay!! Ended up with the 16.5 Kentaur Elekra and it fits us both perfectly, so happy. Only problem as it's dark brown and all me gear is black so I will have to slowly switch everything over.

I had a great time at Equitana and enjoyed catching up with a few people at the AHAA stand Smile

Also, who else is doing the Summer Royal? Mary Hanna is judging the Andy and Friesian classes! I am a bit nervous about riding for her! Laughing

Gorgeous new baby BSH

Loving Bo too Colleen.

Spider and I just spent the last 3 days participating in the Clayton Fredericks Eventing Skills Clinic and had a ball. It was Spids first exposure to a XC course and I think I have turned him into an Eventing Machine!!!

I had yet another foal born today. That's the fourth this season and the third within a week. The first, third and fourth foals are all fillies by Martillo - two out of Arab mares and one out of a WB. The odd foal out was a Mini colt.

So far my boy has thrown 5 fillies for every colt. Not bad considering over the past 14 years of breeding, my ratio has been 2 colts for every filly. It's about time I had a few filly years. Smile

No photos yet as my camera has just died. Rolls Eyes

Hi All,

We have just bought a 7yr old Andalusian Warmblood gelding sired by "Hispano" out of a Valuta mare. I am trying to find reference to the sire. Anyone know him. Pics of the gelding below. Thanks in advance for any information - Merry Christmas!

Merry christmas everyone, and congrats on the new ponies! Kalypso, we need pictures!

'bramarespanishhorses' would be the one to contact for info re: Hispano, he sired her colt picturd earlier I think?

T's xmas treat was getting the run of our old hay paddock for the afternoon - I went for the traditional christmas morning ride with a friend and didnt have the heart to put him back in his little starvation pen Embarassed

Hispano is a lovely old stallion - he is 24 now. He lives down at Clonbinane. We have two colt foals by him that we are very pleased with, and will hopefully have two mares in foal to him this season.

I took some photos of him a couple of weeks ago - hopefully this link will work:

http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=45472&id=100000582 276326&l=a617492c6a

His owner would be very happy to chat with you about him if you wanted further info. She's on facebook, or I can give you her contact if you like.

Larissa Smile

Just an update on the foalings here. Since my last post, there have been another three born one day after each other. One was a Mini but the other two were a chestnut filly out of my imported girl Amira (the third filly for her in a row!) and a chestnut colt out of a WB mare. Both were by Martillo. I just have one more Mini to foal and that's it for this breeding season.

I've finally bought a camera to replace the one that died so photos will be coming shortly.

Hispano is a lovely old stallion - he is 24 now. He lives down at Clonbinane. We have two colt foals by him that we are very pleased with, and will hopefully have two mares in foal to him this season.

I took some photos of him a couple of weeks ago - hopefully this link will work:

His owner would be very happy to chat with you about him if you wanted further info. She's on facebook, or I can give you her contact if you like.

Just thought I would add some recent pictures of my mare, Andaluka Alboroza, she is currently up at Ben Terry's for training and also for him to campaign. Her first comp is on the 9th of jan, sadly I miss it but there are plenty more to come
