Yep, used to smoke behind the shops at the top of Cotham rd, before going to school.
Woollen jumpers, we must have reeked!

Didn't smoke in public, but I do remember being told by a prefect to put my blazer on @ Shoppingtown, so obviously I bucked the system and dared to be seen in just my jumper! Shocked

No wonder I'm such a rebel Very Happy

There's not a lot of respect or pride nowadays in the younger generation/s

I'm 19 and I would say that's a pretty regular occurrence sadly.

I was chatting with one of the kids I work with the other day, who told me that at one of the non-private high schools here in Ballarat that being caught smoking in school uniform is possible grounds for expulsion.

Nod

My school was too though we were a private catholic school - one of the year 12s got expelled the day of his exams for smoking in his car with the window slightly ajar only because he had his school uniform on.

Out of my way, I am in the midst of a hoo haa monologue

The whole ''kids these days'' thing annoys me, My mum used to smoke in her uniform, its not a modern day thing.

I never smoked, but I was caught across the road from the school in my uniform drinking from a bag of goon once... Embarassed Laughing I was such a class act of a teenager.

Gosh, when I went to school, back in the dark ages, we would smoke on the school bus! The driver smoked too so he didn't mind. I remember standing in the aisle one day, chatting and having a smoke when I looked out the back window and saw the car behind the bus was my form teachers. She was glaring right at me. I got a detention but it just got added to my list of detentions. I left school owing at least a dozen detentions Laughing

Having said that, my kids have grown up knowing that if I catch them smoking they get dis-inherited. Plus they think it's a dirty, disgusting habit which it is. Smile

I was in Aldi in Ballarat ...( the one opposite Ballarat high) when one of the year 12 students was trying to buy grog in school uniform.... needless to say the girl behind the counter refused to sell him the grog... good on her. I and all those in the cue just couldnt beleive that he was stupid enough to try it.

Yep, used to do this too, bout 25 years ago now, group of us used to smoke in a toilet block made out of those portable style buildings, the code to know it wasn't a teacher coming up the portable steps was to stomp as loudly as possible. Still got busted though Embarassed Rolls Eyes

We used to smoke once we got around the corner from school too Rolls Eyes

Filthy disgusting habit anyway, did used to smoke a little bit on and off, but thank god I don't do that anymore, makes me feel sick even thinking about smoking these days.

Schools should really crack down on that. In this day with so much information available on what smoking does to you there is no reason to start. Teenage smoking addicts are a sad case.

Also agree with horseychick - if you're over 18 (which is likely if he's in year 12) what's wrong with being in school uniform to buy alcohol?

I don't smoke but once got busted kissing my then boyfriend in uniform Laughing Oh and yes the terrible crimes of a) not wearing my blazer, b) wearing my sports uniform home after having PE last class and c) eating in the street (yes we had a rule against that! Shocked )
